A quick and dirty three things this week. The Sickness has descended upon my household. Even the cat has the sniffles. Whoever is most coherent gets the honor of running to the store to beef up our supplies of soup and toilet paper. Today, that’s me. Here’s the three things I need to get through a cold.

Whiskey & Honey

I’ve been using this to help me through colds for over a decade. It started back in my single days. Living solo and too sick to leave the house, I took a cold remedy inventory, and the results were sad. Half a bottle of Jameson and some honey in the back of the cabinet that I’d brought with me from the last apartment. A couple of drinks later, I was well into a comfortable buzz and it no longer hurt to swallow. Sometimes those old home remedies really work.

Green Tea

Sometimes I’ll have it hot with a dash of lemon juice and honey. Sometimes it goes down better unsweetened and room temperature. Either way, green tea always gives me a feeling of wellness. I just have to make sure the bathroom is close. Green tea has a way of flushing you out. A coughing fit can trigger the lower digestive track into action and I don’t need to tell you what that means.

Netflix

After I’ve cleaned out my insides with green tea and had a couple of whiskey & honey drinks in my system it’s time to crash. Netflix, is my go to for entertainment. I like putting on the worst of the worst horror movies and passing out to the soothing screams of photogenic teens getting massacred by a madman.
